Mosquitos – a real pest for the majority of people around the world as these insects, in particular, are known to bear multiple diseases that have caused much suffering and even DEATHS around the world.
Well, are these mishaps avoidable, you may ask?
Yes, they are with the aid of mosquito repellent products, and we’re going to teach you exactly how to create your very own handmade Mosquito Repellent Balm from scratch!
Here are the things which will be needed:
Mosquito Repellent Balm Ingredients:
Mosquito Repellent Essential Oil Blends:
- 50 drops of lavender essential oil
- 20 drops of lemongrass essential oil
- 30 drops of citronella essential oil
- 10 drops of tea tree essential oil
Now that you’ve got all your ingredients for your handmade mosquito repellent balm, follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Weigh the beeswax, cocoa butter, shea butter and coconut oil, and put them into a heat-safe jar/container. Gently melt the content with a microwave or double-boiler. Once fully melted, remove from heat.
Step 2: Add in vitamin E and stir thoroughly with a clean spatula/spoon.
Step 3: Add in 45-70 drops of the essential oil blends above. Stir thoroughly to disperse oils.
Step 4: Pour the mixture into suitable containers and let it cool.
While there are few storing options for the handmade mosquito repellent balm, like a metal jar, airtight glass container etc, we recommend using the twist-up tube for easier and more hygienic application. Store the balm in a cool and dry place for longer shelf life.
The essential oils are specially chosen for their mosquito repellent properties, and we added higher contents of lavender essential oil for its wonderful floral scent. However, it is always better to check for any contraindications based on your existing health and body conditions by consulting certified health practitioners in aromatherapy especially when you have never used these essential oils before.
